I know that Visual Studio supports user written "add ins", and it is clear that the items on the "Delta Tau" menu and "Tools" menu within Power PMAC IDE are VS add ins written by Delta Tau. Will we be able to write our own custom add ins that can run in Power PMAC IDE? If so, how can we communicate with the PMAC in our add in code? Will Delta Tau provide a sample add in?

Hi, When I use the gpascii to load a simple program to Power PMAC active memory the second time I try to load I get an error BUFFER IN USE. A copy of my telnet session: Delta Tau Power PMAC GNU/Linux 4.0 192.168.0.200 login: root Password: ---------------------------------- -- Power PMAC 440EP bash shell -- ---------------------------------- root@192.168.0.200:/opt/ppmac# gpascii STDIN Open for ASCII Input open prog8 x50 close list prog8 X50 open prog8 stdin:4:1: error #33: BUFFER IN USE: open prog8[hr] This is a very tricky one problem. We are looking to write a Linux driver for Ethernet communications with the Power PMAC. We would like to know if the Power PMAC Ethernet protocol is the same as that published in the Turbo PMAC2 HRM. If not, do you have any documentation covering the Power PMAC Ethernet protocol?

I have a question in the DemoBox_4X.PowerPmacSuite_sln example in the PPmac IDE. In the pp_proj.h file there are some definition, one of these is '#define mypvar1 8193'. What is it mean? And what the 8193 mean? And in the 'demo box defines.pmh' file there is other definition is 'global mypvar1'. Why is this declared name as the same as the pp_proj.h one? Thanks, Rodder

I tried to access the inputs to ACC-11E in a CPLC with this simple code: #include #include #include void user_plcc() { int *Input1, *Output1; Input1 = (int *)(((int *)piom) + 0xA00000 + 8); //Input Pin 1 Output1 = (int *)(((int *)piom) + 0xA0000C + 8); //Output Pin 1 if (*Input1) // If input 1 is high { *Output1 = 1; // Light output 1 LED } else { *Output1 = 0; // Deactivate output 1 LED } return; } However, when I read the Input1 location using the Send() command, its value is always 0, even when I activate the switch, and the LED does not activate ever. Am I getting the address of the …

Is there any way I can quickly disable all amplifier fault protection for a motor? My company has developed our own custom card similar to the ACC24E2A. In order to verify that our card works with the Power PMAC, I would like to enable motors 1-4 on the Power PMAC (bypassing the AmpFault protection). Is there a quick and easy variable I can change? We used to zero out the Status Flag register (Ix24) in the Turbo PMAC2 to perform this test.

Is the scripting language used for the Power PMAC the same as that used for the Turbo PMAC? If so, would a script that runs on Turbo PMAC also run on a Power PMAC without major modifications? Thanks!

Hi! We are trying to implement cascade control on a Power PMAC controller. For examle, use the output of Motor[x] PID Controller as adjusted value (position) of Motor[y] control loop. Which settings must be done in order to realize it? Thanks in advance. Dmitry Konstantinov, SMS Siemag

I created a new project on one of our network drives, to benefit from the daily archiving. When I search the project folder on the network for included header files, such as RtGpShm.h, they are not there. Is this a problem or does the IDE know they are resident on my local drive and access them there? Thanks, Scott

My company has used Delta Tau Turbo PMAC/PMAC2's for many years, and are now about to transition over to the PowerPMAC product. I have extensive experience using Visual Studio, so I am very excited to see what Delta Tau has done with the IDE. But it begs the question, does the Power PMAC support live debugging of PLC's or programs? To clarify, can you use Visual Studio to step through a program or PLC line by line? This would be infinitely more valuable than previous troubleshooting methods we have used in the past. Thanks, -Steven

Hello, I am in the process of writing a C#/GTK# application for an HMI for the Power PMAC. It will run on the Power PMAC using the Mono runtime. I need to access PMAC Global variables defined in the IDE. Since the IDE is generating a C header file with the P variable names how do I access these from the C# language (since it doesn't have #include directives in the preprocessor like C/C++ does)? I would prefer not to use the command line interpreter to parse the variable name if possible for type checking reasons as well as efficiency. Thank you, KEJR

According to the Data Structure Element Summary, the Sys structure has a Time member, and indeed in a script program Sys->Time gives the number of seconds since power-up. I need the same value in a C Background program, but the SHM structure does not actually have a Time member. How do I obtain the corresponding value in a C Background program?

We are evaluating delta tau PPMAC for one of our applications. We have an existing software framework consisting of distributed Java/C++ components running on Linux (CentOS 5.5) platforms. One of the reasons the PPMAC appeals to us is the fact that it runs Linux, and therefore the possibility of having one of our components run in the PPMAC general purpose OS communicating directly with the motion controller. This would be different than the standard approach of having the component running on another machine and communicating with the PPMAC using ASCII commands over Ethernet. This C++ component would be responsible for submitting motion requests and watching for co…

My video capable Power PMAC is running with a CPU temperature of 68.8 deg C and the status screen in the IDE is coloring the temp data in orange. Is my system running hot? The card is mounted in a UMAC rack. The only fan is at the power supply, and it does not circulate air past the card. There are no top or bottom cover plates over the card. Thanks, Scott

Hello, Has anyone used a USB monitor interfaced to the "DisplayLink" chip on a Power PMAC? Monitors using this technology can be bought from companies such as Xenarc, Lilliput and Mimo. USB carries the video and touchscreen signals (I presume through an internal hub...). Most of the time these come with a generic HID touchscreen, so I'm more concerned if the video works with the Power PMAC. I was thinking of testing one but our CPUs are still on backorder. Thanks, KEJR

Hi, I'm trying to figure out the simplest way to write a LabView vi to allow LabView programs to send command to the Power Pmac. 1) use gpascci and connect using telnet. 2) write a vi using the C API on the host computer (i.e. a dll call). 3) write a server program on the powerPmac that is waiting for a client (socket connection) to send a command. To do option (2) we need a reference to the available C API. So far I seen s few examples and headers files but not an official API listing. Where do I find it? Any other suggestions for a simple LabView interface?

Is a “G-Code” Subroutine collection (G-code definition file) built? In the Turbo we used the following files: MILL.G MILL.M MILL.T Do equivalent files exist for the PPMAC or do we have to translate this code from the Turbo script to the PPMAC script? Surely someone else has already had to do this.

I'm using the video-capable Power PMAC and had logged into the Debian X-Windows client to use the graphical text editor to add a group of IP addresses to the \etc\hosts file. I saved the file and connected through my network without the 20 sec telnet delay. However, when I rebooted the PPMAC the "hosts" file reverted to its earlier state. What do I need to do to save the changes permenantly? Thanks, Scott

I'm trying to connect to my new Power PMAC via our LAN. I've assigned the PMAC a static IP. I can ping the PMAC IP and get a good response. I can connect the PMAC Suite on startup if I select the PPmac server protocol instead of Telnet. However, when opening new windows such as "motor setup" or task manager, they will not connect using either protocol. The other windows still show an online status, but new ones never connect. Any suggestions? Thanks, Scott
