I have a 602191-104 PMAC PC in a 5 Axis Fadal Mill . After Trouble Shooting Multi Axis Runaway , I have saturated Analog Output Voltages from all the DAC channels . Even with all Axis stable with feedback. The Control was just received back from the manufacturer, they also sent out a senior tech and he came to the same conclusion. I do know that the 60Pin cable on the J8 machine connector was initially installed incorrectly , ( cable has no locating tabs ) . Could this have damaged the DAC IC's ? The DT board use the PC Power Supply for all its power , No External Power Source . Could I have a jumper setting on the board Incorrect , causing my problem . All I var…

Hello DT Support ! if you have a chance, please tell me. I have PMAC 1.5 + ACC8D. 1.17H Limit switches are used NC-types: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Grn-Plastic-Shell-DC-3-Wires-NC-Sensor-Proximity-Switch-SN04-P-10-30V-/230846996442?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35bf8d9fda Switching collected as follows: http://i40.fastpic.ru/thumb/2012/0905/4f/9d71a38f24f7b575d6059f5a66514f4f.jpeg I use an external power supply. I have a problem with the definition of limit switches. system does not have reactions to triggering limit switches. Status window does not display the connector state change switches. if I'm doing the installation search for "Home" limit switc…

Hi DT support, I am trying to set up a feedforward torque control delta robot. The inverse dynamics has been calculated and I plan to upload a list of compensating torque to the 3 motors used to actuate the manipulator. Currently, a PMAC card (VERSION: 1.17C ;TYPE: PMAC1, ISA/VME, FLASH, PID, CLK X2) is used control the robot through the on board position servo loop. I hope to reduce following errors by introducing this compensating torque. I wonder if it is possible to use virtual motors to update the torque compensating tables of the real motors for every servo cycle? I hope to map the 'commanded position' of the virtual motors (really the calculated torq…

I have several PMAC (1) boards of various versions, and have been trying to verify that they can be used as backups. I have 2) PMAC Universal Lite w/DPR on board, a PMAC Lite needing Option 2 DRP board, and an PMAC-1 needing the Option 2 DRP. My base system uses the Universal Lite w/DPR onboard. The system works (not completely optimized, but usable), and I saved Global configuration. I am able to install the PMAC-1, the Option 2 DPR board, use the saved global configuration to load into the PMAC-1, and verify the expected normal operation. My PMAC-Lite, however, does not behave normally. The board is a 602402-101, Opt 5A, ver 1.16D. I have tried the E51 rese…

I have a small lathe set up, and am able to to jog, home axes using Adv600 control panel, but do not fully understand how the MDI & buffer operate. I first home the X & Z axes. I enter 'S400 M03' (on separate lines) into the edit window, click the 'Write to Buffer' command button, then push the 'Cycle Start' button. Spindle rotates as expected. If I then enter 'Z1.5' (just some move to verify operation) into the edit window, as soon as I click the 'Write to Buffer' command button, it kills the spindle rotation. Pushing the 'Cycle Start' button causes the Z to move, as expected. Is this 'normal' operation for this software? BTW, this was using the v2.3…

For PMAC 2 the DAC output appears to be X:$0049. According to the manual the DAC value should be a 16 bit value. How can I decode the hex value in that register to get the actual DAC-value? Trying to gather it with Quick plot leads to very small values (like 0.0544...), while the register contains a big value like $FF5210. What I actually expect is a value between -32767 and + 32767.

As I understand the servo cycle frequency is set with the parameters I900 and I902. The default value of I900=6527 would limit the servo cycle frequency to 9034.6 Hz. However a I900 set to 0 would enable a servo cycle frequency of 39.3 MHz? Is that possible? What would be the reasons for limiting it then?

Hello, I am working with a PMAC2 control, using the PMAC Executive Suite 3.2 for communications. My objective is to get a transfer function of the controlled (closed loop) system, obtained by frequency sweeps. The PMAC TuningPro software includes a possibility to sweep, but it is: 1. limited to 225 Hz (servo loop cycle is 9.0346 kHz) 2. limited to integer numbers for the time range 3. not permitting any control of the capturing rate My questions are related to these problems: Can I manually change the deposited programs for these kind of motions? Where can I find them? How can I gather data from terminal, plotting them into a file? The LIST GATHER command …

I have a slew of problems with the gather technique. I need to monitor coordinated moves in the x-y plane of a 3-axis machine with all three axes in a single coordinate system. I am trying to do this using the gather technique and am running into problems. To have everything reproducible, I am writing a single-shot PLC (no.15). All is okay except that Define Gather 1536 gives an error 3 during download, which disappears if I drop the length parameter. Interactively in the Terminal window of PEWin32 Pro, I can give this command without problem. Because I use the rear part of the DPRAM for other things, the gather buffer there cannot be maximal and I ne…

I bought two Option 2 Dual Port Ram cards as backups, but they do not seem to work. I tested them in a known working system using the Motion Applet to add the PMAC device. I set DPR address to 0D000 (as with the known working card) but the applet reports that it cannot find the PMAC. Both of the new cards do the same. Comparing these non-working cards to my working one I found a couple of things different. The part # for the good card was 602240-101, while the bad cards were both 602240-102. The good card has a serial number hand etched in the serial number block, and both of the bad cards were blank. Both of the bad cards had pins 41 & 42 (in the 50-pin head…

Many years ago I 'almost' got a lathe project running, with a PMAC-1, using the NC v2.36 software, and an Advantage 500 (I think) panel, with the 8-switch control panel. Being stubborn, I am going to make another run at it. At the time, NC v2.36 was the choice - is that still appropriate for the PMAC 1? Or does DT have newer, more robust version that will work with the the control I have? Or, are there other 3-rd party vendors that have software? Comments on your past experiences with DT NC software, suggestion, etc are appreciated. Cheers, Steve

Hi, I'm tried connect delta tau PMAC PC104 delta HMI model:DOP-B04S211, but it's failed. i'm pretty sure on baud rate setting. My delta HMI just have RXD, TXD,GND, RTS and CTS. it's enough wiring connection to delta tau? because normally delta tau connect to PC through RS232 is used 7 wiring connection of 9 pin com port. I have apply same wiring to delta HMI also failed. I just want get advise on wiring connection between delta tau PMAC PC104 with delta HMI.

We are trying to create a new image using windows 7 embedded standard. I started with a simple image that lets me do everything with PMAC but I needed to add more features so my program works correctly. Somewhere in the middle I can no longer insert my PCI PMAC into the device list to give it a device number. It lists the device as an option to add and gives me no error message. It just does not add it to the list. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

My boss acquired an awesome but older machine tool from Oak Ridge. It is an X-Y granite table with Anorad DC-brush linear motors and Heidenhain scales. I am hooking up a DT PMAC-PC running under Windows 98 with PMAC-Win32. The PMAC-PC has the 80Mhz CPU, 8-axis and DPRAM options. The PMAC-PC is connected to a DT PMAC-NC front panel (via J3) and a couple ACC-8DP I/O boards (via the 2 JMACH cables). This is really old stuff (I apologize in advance) but the machine itself is one of a kind and worth the effort. If I can make it work we will buy all new (supported) motors/scales before using the machine for any production work. I have one of the encoders working, the Y…

We are having trouble with amplifier faults using a PMAC2 and a GPL201 amplifier. We get occasional (every minute or so) amplifier faults back at the PMAC2 board, but they don't appear to be coming from the amplifier. There is no fault code on the amplifier, and we can get around this problem by disabling the amplifier fault checking in Ix25. Of course, this leaves us without an amplifier fault input. Has anyone seen this behavior before? This is a seven axis system, so we have been able to swap around the cabling, Acc8 boards, etc. The problem always seems to follow the GPL201 amplifier. (Note: The other amplifiers in the system are GPL052 and GPL102s. They …

I am using ADVANTAGE 400. I am trying to use the analog output of the PMAC2 terminal. I have used a MAXON DC motor with encoder and a MAXON servo amplifier with it. Motor is running in close loop. The serial communication between ADVANTAGE 400 and pewin32 is established successfully. My question is how can I control the speed of the motor from pewin32. Please help!

Hello all, I am working on a project upgrading a system from an old PMAC1 card to a newer version. I have very little information (read: none) on the wiring of the amps at the other side of the JMACH1 cable. I am operating under the assumption that the JMACH1 pins are consistent between versions - as such I assume that if I configure the the new card the same as the old one, there shouldn't be a problem. (please, correct me if I am wrong). I have connected the new card, however when I power up the amps, a loud buzzing sound comes from the back of the PMAC card. Similar to a fan spinning with an obstruction. I am not sure what could be the cause of this. Is it like…

I have two PMAC-VME boards. Operational board running v1.17w/40Mhz processor. One back up board running ver 1.16 w/20 Mhz processor. We made software changes and wanted to update the backup board and it failed during the download of new files. Mistakenly I believe we installed the jumper 51 and reset it to factory default erasing the original files. I have tried many iterations of download attempt with nothing successful. I am beginning to believe the backup board has failed in some way. The battery is good. Am I missing something in this process? Is there a problem with v 1.16 vs v 1.17?
