The GS1 organization typically updates their primary document, the GS1 General Specifications, towards the beginning of each year. While the SST’s are not necessarily updated during every revision, it is not uncommon. All these changes require us to update our software in order to comply with the most current revision, and usually the most noticeable change for a user is to the SST’s.

Supported Products: LVS-95XX Software LVS-9500 (Legacy) LVS-9505 (Legacy) LVS-9510 LVS-9570 LVS-9580 LVS-9585 Common Reason 1 - A dirty or scratched window: Something as simple as multiple fingerprints or other smudges on the window can cause a degradation of the image sufficient to cause calibration failure. Begin by uninstalling the LVS-95XX software itself. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Programs and Features, as shown below. Then simply follow the prompts to uninstall. 2. Next, uninstall the accompanying drivers, as shown in the screenshot below. (Note that some drivers below may not be present depending on…

The top number (colored Green) is the Modulation value for that module. The bottom number is the Reflectance value for that module. Numbers in red with an asterix (*) indicate maximum or minimum values. The table below the symbol lists the location of the following: Maximum value for Reflectance. Minimum value for Reflectance. Minimum for Modulation. There may be more than one module with a maximum or minimum value, so a module is chosen randomly from any multiple minimum or maximums.

Purpose: This guide will show you how to install a second LVS device on the same PC. In the latest version of the LVS software, this addition is limited to only being able to add an LVS-9510 to a new or existing install of an LVS-9580-85 or LVS-9570 system. Explanation: Under normal circumstances, only one LVS-95XX device can be installed on a single PC. The reason this is the case is that the LVS software needs a database file with the necessary factory calibration information. The database files are unique to each device and the LVS-95XX software can only connect to one database file at a time. This guide will show you how you can add a device to the LVS…

Purpose: To outline the steps to unlock an Operator account on an LVS-95XX Series Barcode Verification system. Explanation: After three unsuccessful login attempts, due to either the Operator ID or Password being entered incorrectly, the LVS-95XX Series software will lock out the account from further login attempts until the account has been unlocked using the following procedure. This procedure requires that you log in with the Password Of The Day (POTD), so contact Microscan prior to this procedure to obtain those credentials. Procedure: 1. With the verifier connected to the PC, start the LVS software and login using the POTD. 2. Open the “Setup” tab,…

Purpose: Enable the ability to “print” the current grading report to a PDF in the LVS-95XX software. Explanation Although all grading reports are automatically saved to the local .mdb file of a given LVS-95XX-series barcode verifier, a user may wish to save the current grading report as a PDF for immediate use. Since the LVS-95XX software prints to the default printer on the PC, this procedure will describe how to change the default printer to “Microsoft Print-to-PDF”. Procedure: 1. Open Windows Control Panel 2. Open “Devices and Printers”. 3. Right-click on “Microsoft Print-to-PDF” and select “Set as default printer”. 4. The printer ico…

This technical note intends to outline a best practice to be used prior to moving any LVS-9580/9585 manufactured after June 2018 or any LVS-9570 (of any vintage) from a PC where it is currently installed to another PC where an identical model of verifier has ever been connected in the past. Any time one of the aforementioned models is installed on a PC a “.sav” file is created in C:\Users\Public\LVS-95XX, similar to the screenshot below: This mechanism is designed around only a single aforementioned verifier model being used on the PC, though there are many reasons a different verifier may need to be used (replacing a damaged verifier, testing, etc.). If an…

Note: This is not possible with the LVS-958X models. Those will need their specific (serial number) and original factory databases as a starting point. Downgrading is not recommended but sometimes desired especially with customers that validate their systems (medical/pharma companies for example). This request usually occurs when they replace or add to their quantity of LVS-9510 units at their facility. Using an older version means you will not have the latest ISO changes or bug fixes. We do not recommend going older than version 4.1.0j. The newer LVS-9510 will come with a database created from the latest software released at the time of sale/shipping. Thi…
