How to open a backup file - PMAC VME

Recommended Posts

Hello all !

I am new in the forum. I am here because I want to make some modification in one of our machines. This machine has a PMAC VMEbus control. I have found some backup files with the following extension:

**.PP

**.16c ->  motherprogram backup

**.512 (512 is the model of the machine) -> Full PMAC Configuration backup performed on 11/02/04

I have the PEWIN32 software but I can't open any of these files.

I would like to have access to the source code of the motion and PLC programs. Can anyone help me?

Regards

Hello Mr. Milici

Thank you for your reply. Yes, indeed, I can open the files with any text editor, the problem is that I am not sure if this is the source code.

For example, the PLC program is compiled as you can see in the attached image.

Is there any way I can have access to the source code?

Regards

The source code would be on the PC that compiled the PLCCs and user servo code. There is no “decompiler” feature of PEWIN. The file will start with “open plcc ...”.

For more details, see the chapter “Writing a PLC Program” in the “PMAC User Manual” starting on page 233 (253 electronic). Specifically see the section “Compiled PLC Programs” starting on page 237 (257 electronic):

Hello Mr. Milici

Ok, thank you for your quick reply. In that case I won't be able to access to the compiled programs since I don't have the PC that compiled in 2004.

I do have the not-compiled PLC programs, but according the documentation you provided, in the PMAC controller, there are compiled and not-compiled PLC programas running at the same time.
