Newbie, have some questions about CNC Control

Hi everyone,

First, I want to say I am relatively new to this level of CNC programming, so please excuse my lack of knowledge if I am missing something critical here.  I've always dealt with machines that are relatively plug and play.  I have been tasked with loading a waterjet with a new CNC control software.  I am going to use Mach3 or Mach4 from ArtSoft.  I have Yaskawa SGDM Servopacks for motion, and a CLIPPER BOARD TURBO PMAC2A-ETH board.  The computer used to control the system is a 32 bit windows machine (i386).  The PC already communicates with the clipper board via ethernet using PeWin32Pro2.  I have 2 main questions with this.

  1. Does anyone have any resources on using PeWin32Pro2?  I am not sure where to begin, and I am not 100% what this software does.  As far as I can tell, it seems like middleware for configuring the servopacks and servos.
  2. How can I integrate a CNC controller software with PeWin32Pro2?  Is this relatively well documented? I am having a hard time finding any information on this.

I appreciate any guidance you guys may provide, and look forward to some responses!

The “Pewin32 Pro2” software is for configuration and setup of the PMAC to the connected hardware. This software would not integrate to Mach3 or Mach4 CNC software. These integrate separately. You would need to contact that manufacturer for their instructions.

Here is a link to download a trial version of the “PMAC Executive Pro2 Suite” (Pewin32 Pro2):

Here are links to the manuals for this software with descriptions of its operation:

Note that after the trial version has expired the software is still fully functional. You just need to “navigate” the Freeware “nag screens” that pop-up every 45 seconds.

If you wish to purchase a permanent license here is the order PN: 3A0-9WPRO2-35X

Note that this software was announced as discontinued on March 31, 2024, with a last time buy date of March 31, 2025.
