Unfortunately, the UPS Omron S8BA is not compatible with PLC SIMATIC ET 200SP Open Controllers + Siemens IPC in System 24V with earth ground common with 0 VDC (-24V named sometimes). Is just compatible with 24V floating ground system. If you choose to put UPS Omron S8BA in a system 24V with earth ground common with 0 VDC and with the cable USB that communicate with IPC / PC where is installed Power Attendant Lite, then the UPS Control Unit won't start, but if you disconnect the communication cable RS232-USB, the UPS will start. Big Attention!!! If the communication cable RS232-USB is connected (red circle in pictures bellow) and you take out the 0 VDC wire form Out connector, the UPS Control Unit will burn !!!!! see in the pictures below. Is ridiculous that this UPS Unit did not have a protection. The power will return via ground wire of Communication cable (RS232-USB) to USB IPC / PC and the UPS will be destroyed. Also, unfortunately, SIMATIC ET 200SP Open Controllers have Eart Ground common with 0 VDC. All devices’ Siemens have earth isolated by 0 VDC except this PLC. Is a mistake from design, not the reason for human protection. Everyone must choose if they want 24V floating or not. Maybe the USB 3.0 is the problem, because the IPC Siemens 427E did not have USB 2.0 connector. For other Omron products not on this Forum please email ia.techsupport@omron.com. Have “UPS Omron S8BA” in the subject line. Do not have ODT-Support@omron.com, “Delta Tau”, “PMAC” or my name in the subject line (or email CC’ed) as this could cause it to be incorrectly routed to the wrong agent.
