kash
I the SRM and User Manual I found that the end of the large DPRAM gather buffer is $603FFF and that the beginning is $060450. So I should expect my buffer to be $063FFF - $060450 = $03BB0 (15280) long. However, using "define gather" with i5000=3, yields the actual maximum size of 15184, 96 less that my calculation. What's up with that?
steve.milici
PMAC does have some header information at the beginning of the gather buffer. I will get the details of this header information for you if it is needed.
kash
That would be helpful. I wonder how I do not seem to read out this header information, when I'm reading from the beginning of the DPRAM gather buffer?
steve.milici
The "overhead" data is actually at the end of the buffer. The pointer will always have the last unused location and the true beginning is always at $60450.
kash
That makes sense with what I experience. I will set the maximum buffersize to 15184. Thanks!
