shansen
When I order a Power PMAC with the dual EtherCAT master option, can I use both Ethernet ports and both EtherCAT ports at the same time?
Sina.Sattari
Yes. You can use all of the Ethernet ports at the same time. In Power PMAC 460 CPU, we have two Ethernet ports which can only be used as Ethernet since the chip is not compatible for use with EtherCAT. The EtherCAT option board ports however, can be used either as EtherCAT or Ethernet ports.
MClement
Does this need the extra ethernet card because the ethernet chipset on the PMAC460CPU is not compatible with the EtherCAT library and the external one is compatible, or is there actually Beckhoff chip hardware on the external ethernet card? Will future PMAC cards eventually have the ethercat built into the main ports:?

You are correct the ethernet chipset on the PMAC460CPU is not compatible with the EtherCAT library and the external one is compatible. Yes, we are considering making one of two the ethercat ports on the main cpu board compatible in the future.
