Omron Forums Support
There are 3 different ways to get keyboard output from a barcode reader; Use a software wedge. A software wedge is a program that runs in the background on the host that converts almost any communication port data into keyboard strokes. TWedge and WinWedge are examples of 3rd party programs that convert barcode data being received via RS232 or TCP/IP into keyboard strokes.Use a hardware wedge. A hardware wedge is a cable or adapter that physically converts the RS232 or TCP/IP data into keyboard strokes. Microscan, Intelleto and MicroRidge are manufacturers of hardware wedges. Please remember if using an RS232 converter to match the baud rate of the wedge with the host port of the barcode reader. The QX and MicroHAWK 40 series can use a keyboard wedge cable, 61-9000088-01. The USB MiniHAWK, MicroHAWK 20 and 30 series have keyboard output options built into the units so no software or adapters are necessary.
