Omron Forums Support Posted March 14, 2022 Share Posted March 14, 2022 A common problem when using Hardware Flow control with RS-232 readers is with the operation of the RTS/CTS lines. Microscan products use the RS-232C specification for hardware flow control operation to maintain compatibility with most interfacing products. Most computers today have settled on RS-232D or later. The specification for Revision D changed the operation of the RTS/CTS lines, making the two interfaces incompatible. This is why some Terminal or communication programs will not communicate when RTS/CTS is enabled.
