  1. I'm on a PMAC Mini (PMAC 1). I have a worm gear coupled to a motor via a flexible shaft adapter. I run with minimal blending, (I187=1, I188=0), and reverse the motor while it is rotating at varying velocities. The backlash introduced by the shaft adapter seems to vary with velocity. Does that mean I have to set up a backlash table, as opposed to just adjusting backlash iVars?
  2. Trying to do some layout design for a Clipper (16 weeks till I see it). There is a diagram showing mounting holds in the on-line docs. Is there a version of that diagram calling out the J1, J2....J9 connectors? At the very least, two 34 pin connectors , which is J4, J9?
  3. Using Setup Pro2 to setup UMAC/TurboPMAC2 w ACC24E2A. The ACC24E2A's channels 1 & 2 are dead, but 3 & 4 work. I have a 2 axis application, so what the heck. I bring up Setup Pro 2, and start configuring, leaving Motor 3 as channel 3 and Motor 4 as channel 4. The actual motors and amps are identicle. Motor 3 has pos and neg limit switches. I get through configuring it just fine, Open loop test, a nice graph. Motor 4 has no limits switches, so I disable position limits, otherwise the setup is the same as 3, and try and run Open Loop test, it complains about the positive position limit being true so it wont run?? The channel 4 front panel connector is empty! I even stuck channel 3's limits connector into channel 4, still complains? entering open loop mode on motor 4 in terminal works? I'm about to try again except make channel 3 motor 1, 4 motor 2 or am I wasting my time, (the ACC24 has problems), is there no other explaination other than a whacked board? UPDATE: not the board, quirky bug in Setup Pro2
  4. SOLVED: The PMAC came to me in an assembly with power supply. The power supply had 5V & -+12, and the -+12V were wired to the POWER IN terminal block, as though the intention was to run coupled to the machines on JMACH. All of the E85...E90 jumpers were set to run de coupled (default), so the +-12V didn't need to be there. I pulled the +-12V off the PMAC block and used them to power pin 58 & 59 on JMAC. Now works as expected. I have a PMAC-MINI I'm integrating, and I'm stuck. First, the board was factory reset before I started with it. The board seems to function properly, I can talk to it over RS-232, and I connected two Pittman motor encoders, and can see position updates (^P) when I twiddle the motors. Then I went to verify the board was seeing LIM+, LIM- and AMP ERROR. I get nothing. I hooked a bench top DC supply set to 12V to pins 58,59,60. I checked E85,87,89,90, they are all set to factory default. I defined recommended MVARS for LIM-, LIM+ and ERROR for all four motors. M121->X:$C000,21,1 .... M423->X:$C00C,23,1 So to test LIM+ / LIM- I connected pins 51 and 53 to 58 (AGRND) M121 and M122 STILL return 1 shouldn't they return 0? PS So far every jumper on my board I've checked has been the factory default setup. I125 is set to 00C000
