Once an Image pre-processing step, Binary Morph for example, has been inserted into the Snapshot, the modified image (output buffer) can be seen when an additional vision tool is inserted into the previous step, in this example the user would insert into the Binary Morph another vision step to use the modified image. The user will also be able to see the effect of the Binary Morph on the image when the child vision step is selected. In addition the effect of the image pre-processing step can be seen if the user double clicks inside of the image pre-processing ROI. To return to the original image the user will need to double click on the image.

Occasional issues can arise pertaining to updating the name on MicroHAWK MV units using AutoVISION: you can perform the procedure, but the unit maintains the previous name even after rebooting. For these cases, attached you will find a simple .wsf file which automates this task if Windows Telnet Client is enabled. Please ensure this Windows function is enabled prior to running the file. Note: Remove the .txt extension and run it as .wsf. When executed, it requests the MicroHAWK IP Address: After entered the IP Address and clicking OK, it requests the New MicroHAWK Name: After entering the new name and clicking OK, it executes the ‘BP_UpdateCameraName’ command…

Before performing any of these procedures, establish a Telnet connection with the MicroHAWK MV camera (see Knowledge Base article 000001390 for one method). To use the full Autofocus/Auto Calibration routine OUTSIDE OF RUNTIME: 1. Before performing this, you need to stop any running inspection (Auto Calibration cannot be used during runtime) using the following serial command: offline (This stops all inspections). 2. You can then perform the Automatic Calibration of Photometry using the following serial command: autocal (Performs automatic calibration of photometry settings: Gain, Exposure, and Focus). 3. Then, you need to resta…

Before starting the configuration shown in the video, it is important that you have the model of the PLC and the version with which you work, as you will be asked to start the configuration. Studio 5000 must be compatible with the version of the PLC you are handling, do not omit any of the steps shown in the video as it may cause a failure in the communication between MicroHawk and CompactLogix. It is vital that you check that the input, output, Electronic Keying, IP and response ranges are appropriate for successful communication. Job files in both AutoVISION and FrontRunner are saved as *.avp. However, any helper files (such as Perl scripts) are saved elsewhere in the file structure on the computer. In order to transfer complete applications between cameras (or to get technical assistance), it is recommended to save the complete job in a zipped file known as a *.avz file. In AutoVISION – Go to File menu > Archive Job… In FrontRunner – Go to File menu > Options > AVP tab – enable Create .avz option in FrontRunner. Restart FrontRunner. At this point the job is saved, and the .avz is also created in the same folder. Software Version All Firmware Version All O…

The Hi-Brite light uses the strobe pulse signal duration to determine the the strobe light on time. For Visionscape 3.7 and newer, using progressive scan analog cameras, VS-1 smart camera, and GigE cameras the strobe on time is determined by Exposure time found in the Snapshot > Acquire step. Please reference the Hi-Brite specification sheet for details on the maximum strobe pulse signal duration and maximum strobe light output duration.

This is a short description of the functionality of the Photometry settings upon startup. The Photometry settings are gain, exposure and black level offset (ADC). These are typically set with the Normalization program. The Normalization program picks photometry settings that will allow calibration to be successful using our standard calibration target. Upon startup, the photometry settings are read from the current settings for the CONTRASTCAL if the unit has no verification license installed or the XLIGHTCONTRASTCAL if there is a verification license installed. The parameters of CONTRASTCAL are black offset (ADC), exposure, gain The parameters of XLIGHTCONTRASTCAL are li…

Microscan Solutions Team created a guide for applications involving human readable text that is either read by a machine (OCR) or validated for quality by a machine (OCV). This guide describes the qualities of the fonts that should be used in OCR and OCV applications. It should be noted that Visionscape AutoVISION software does not specify which fonts are readable with the OCR tool because the OCR tool is trainable on any character set. The document that follows describes the qualities of a more easily machine read font. kA23800000008IeCAI_en_US_1.pdf

This applies to all Visionscape tools and software. The only requirement for a graphics card is that it is an external card with on-board memory. The card should not share memory with the CPU.

If multiple acquires are set up for different focus, gain or exposure, the camera will not change settings until some advanced settings are changed. Under each acquire step, click on the 'A' button to show advanced settings, and then click on Options. enable all the features that will be adjusted within the job. For example, if you will only change the focus, enable Use fixed focus.

1. Verify that the Visionscape GigE license is connected to the USB port. 2. This problem can happen if FrontRunner or AppRunner is started before the Visionscape Backplane has detected the cameras. Try starting the Visionscape Backplane. Right click on the Backplane icon in the system tray and select Display Debug Window. Verify that the Visionscape GigE license was detected and that the GigE cameras are found. Once these items are seen in the Visionscape Debug window, FrontRunner or AppRunner will detect the cameras. 3. Lastly check the network binding order. The network adapters that are connected to the GigE cameras should be first on the search order. To change the n…
