When compiling Custom Visionscape .NET Programs, it is required to add the top line to your Post Build event to allow the program to use more memory than normal 32 bit programs do. Typically 32 bit programs are limited to 2GB. This allows programs to go well past that. Required for image size, stack size, etc.

Visionscape I-Pak uses job files that are loaded onto the Visionscape boards when I-Pak is put into run mode. When the new software is installed, the previous job was likely not copied to the new I-Pak\Jobs directory so I-Pak created a default 1 camera job. To resolve this: a) build a new job and add the missing cameras b)save a previous back-up into the I-Pak\jobs directory.

The MicroHAWK requires a minimum of 4.7 volts DC to function. When a PC goes into sleep/low power mode, the USB ports essentially turn off or run at a lower than 4 volt range. When this happens there is not enough voltage/power for the ID-30 to function so there will be no communication/functionality from the unit. The printing rule that I mention is from the NASA spec, NASA-STD-6002 (Applying Data Matrix Identification Symbols on Aerospace Parts). This document can be retrieved from https://standards.nasa.gov/file/517/download?token=yuQmgz3V Section 4.2.1.2 is the relevant section. Per the document… 4.2.1.2 Part Geometry Flat surfaces are preferred over curved surfaces for marking. A rectangular symbol shall be applied to cylindrical parts, either concave or convex. The rectangle is sized to fit either within the reflective band of light that emanates from the spine of the curve or on 5 percent of the circumference. This band of light typically occupies 16 percent of the…

What size OCR character is valid for Quadrus MINI decoding? The font size on the surface to be read is not as important as the size of the imaged OCR character in memory. OCR will work with imaged characters ranging in height from 10 to 50 pixels, with 20 pixels being the optimal size based on read rate, accuracy and performance.

Possible Cause 1 - PC antivirus/firewall software blocking the camera's UDP broadcast: The sole mechanism used by AutoVISION/Visionscape (a.k.a. AV/VS) to discover OMRON Microscan Smart Cameras is by detecting the UDP message broadcast every ~5-10 seconds. Many PC antivirus/firewall software can mistakenly block this broadcast as a potential threat. Fix: Check your security software logs for blocked UDP broadcasts from the camera or software. If they are being blocked, disable the software to confirm this is the issue, then have your IT dept. "whitelist" the item (likely avpsvr.exe) so that it is no longer blocked in the future. Possible Cause 2 - Camera is in Diagnosti…

I had a customer with a problem loading Visionscape. The debug window showed a message from CAvpBackplane stating that the configuration file couldn't be read. Frontrunner would then show up with no GigE systems available. Darren and Tom helped me out. The fix was to do the following: Shutdown all the Visionscape stuff (including the backplane) From start menu select Run Cmd Navigate to C:\Vscape\412_16\dll (or whatever version you are using) Type in Regasm visionscape.configuration.dll /tlb That fixed it! Not exactly sure what it does but I found the following REGASM: This utility makes registry entries to make your .NET object look like a COM object

In this case, the network overview showed that the camera was being controlled by "@" or something close to that. This occurs when the camera has a space character in the camera name. Spaces are not allowed in VS-1 camera names!!! To fix the problem without a serial connection, set the PC to the IP subnet of the camera, open a web browser to the following address, "http://" + camera ip address (found from network overview) + "/setup.htm". At that web page you can reset the camera name to remove the space. You can also set the camera static IP address but the octets are backwards, so that to enter the address A.B.C.D you need to put in the address as D.C.B.A and the same f…

When a Visionscape job file is moved from one PC to another, auxiliary files are often not moved or the location of the auxiliary files may be different. This is also a problem when the scripts are moved from different versions of Visionscape. The key to understanding this situation is the "perlscr" file typically found in the "C:\Vscape\Jobs\perlmod" folder. This file is itself a Perl script and is run when a script file is added to the job. If the perlscr file has an error then the error will be displayed in the Visionscape debug window. If a script called out by the perlscr is not available then a warning message "Can't locate xxxx.pm" describing the script than cannot…

This is not an issue in VS 7.0.3 (AV 3.0.3), but in VS 8.0.1 (AV 4.0.1) if you are using a Emulator or GigE system, you should set you Dwell time to 0. This is necessary for modern multicore pcs to function properly with any sort or wait or pulsed IO step. If this is not set, you may see inspections suspend and the job hang. This Dwell Percentage datum is found in the Vision System step as highlighted in the attachment. Software Version VS 8.0, AV 4.0

Reference the ReadMe.wri file for the Visionscape 4.0 release where it states that “LogicTech Setpoint program is known to make Visionscape 4.0.0 software inoperable. Please uninstall the LogicTech Setpoint software prior to installing Visionscape 4.0.0." Similar problems have been reported with other mouse drivers as well. Work-around: Uninstall mouse driver software before installing Visionscape.

A common issue with some older laptops, including Dell Latitudes, is that FrontRunner will lock up part way through the loading process. This is caused by the 'Real Time Priority' setting. Older laptops can't handle the Real Time operation, and so the priority will need to be adjusted. This document will help resolve a lock-up issue for laptops running Visionscape 4.x with a GigE Camera attached. kA23800000008IxCAI_en_US_1.pdf

1. Shut down Visionscape Backplane. 2. Move USB license key to different port. After connection should see the end of the key light up . 3. If key doesn't light up, try Downloading the latest HASP HL drivers from: ftp://ftp.aladdin.com/pub/hasp/Sentinel_HASP/Runtime_%28Drivers%29/Sentinel_HASP_Run-time_setup.zip Reinstall these drivers on your PC. 4. Start the Visionscape Backplane at the local PC. Note *The GigE license is NOT detected if the user is logged into the PC via a Remote PC.

The problem could be that the Visionscape I-PAK HE software cannot communicate to the camera. 1. Shut down I-PAK user interface. 2. Cycle power for each camera by removing the cable from the X1 connector. (9 o'clock position if the camera is oriented so that the small connector is the 12 o'clock posiion.) 3. Wait 1 minute. 4. Restart PC with I-PAK. When I-PAK starts it might ask user to select a camera. 5. Once started, click the setup button and use change product to select the desired job.

The Vision HAWK and Vision MINI will refuse to boot with many of the LED indicator lights remaining on if the following conditions are met: 1) The serial port is set to VxWorks (via the "BP_UpdateConsoleTTY 2" command and 2) The serial port is floating (not connected to anything). The workarounds currently are to either connect the serial port (grounding the Rx and Tx are sufficient or to set the serial port connection to none or VsApp ("BP_UpdateConsoleTTY 0" or "BP_UpdateConsoleTTY 1").
