Microscan AutoVISION/Visionscape utilize the UDP broadcast from Microscan Smart Vision Cameras to see and connect to them. If a second IPv4 address gets appended to the network adapter on the PC, then the software can connect to the wrong address and never see the camera. Sysmac Studio may cause this to happen when a "Connection Type" of "Direct connection via Ethernet" is selected, though there may be other causes. If your camera is not being seen in AutoVISION/Visionscape, perform this initial check: Open a Command Prompt in Windows by clicking "Start" > "Run", then typing cmd and hit Enter. In the command prompt type ipconfig /all and hit Enter.Under the info for y…

Per the Visionscape GigE Camera Guide it states on page 2-5, “The mounting block of the Visionscape® GigE Camera is part of the heat dissipation system, and metal-to-metal contact is required for effective cooling.” The GigE camera must be mounted to a metal surface to be a heat sink to dissipate the heat generated by the camera.

If you have installed ESP and you get the following Error Message. "The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem." It may be that part of the installer did not run. ESP requires the Visual C++ redistributable package and from time to time this does not install. You need to install this separately using the attachment below. kA23800000008FOCAY_en_US_1.zip

Why we get "Packet Missing from image sent by Camera X" message is that we are out of network resources for the particular NIC port the camera is attached to. The way to reduce network resources are: * Get latest update of the network card device drivers you are using. If the following option(s) are available for your network card device: Increase the # of Receive Descriptors to the maximum Turn Interrupt Moderation On If Jumbo Frames available increase to the maximum number You will also need to update HKLM\Software\Visionscape\GigeVision\PacketSize to the same decimal value so the camera uses that size If those options are not available you will need to Increase the Int…

Click on the 'A' button to show advanced settings, and then click on Options. enable all the features that will be adjusted within the job. For example, if you will only change the focus, enable Use fixed focus. To add another snapshot, highlight the snapshot tool, and insert after. The same procedure is valid for AutoVISION and Visionscape. Introduction Camera Definition files (CamDef) can be edited to define, among other features, the image size acquired by the camera. By editing the CamDef file, the image acquired by the camera is “cropped” – it is not “zoomed”. Simple Example Below you can see an image acquired by a Vision HAWK Smart Camera (1.2 MP, SXGA, 1280 x 960 default definitions), using the AutoVISION Software. If, for any reason, we don’t need to acquire the full image, we can edit the CamDef file and crop it. Usually, this affects the cycle time, by reducing it. The first step is to defining the desired size of the im…

To get rid of the login request for the VxShell in MicroHAWK, you must set a flag in the Bootloader. Note *Below Example is Using an ID-30 With VCOM and Micro-Putty. Once you know the device is connected Open Device Manager and note the COM port # for Microscan CDC Driver (COM # 15 in this example). You will need this to setup the communications in later steps. (Not needed for the ID/MV-30/40 with No VCOM) VCOM Setup: 1. Connect to the device using either Weblink (Open Web Browser ?Type 192.168.188.2 into the Address bar) or ESP as an Ethernet/USB connection. 2. In the Communications setting Tree set VCOM to Enabled. (For Weblink Click the ICON and Select Advanc…

This paper will show the Orientation related to Picket Fence and Ladder as a barcode is presented to the scanner. This can increase or decrease decode times depending on travel speeds when presented to the laser scanner. And is a major factor on whether a laser based scanner can work at certain line speeds. * Directly Related to Formulas for Decodes found under Appendices in most of the user manuals* **All Imagers can read in an Omnidirectional orientation.** kA23800000007mVCAQ_en_US_1.pdf

When a program in Windows crashes, it may be useful to create a Dump file to provide the software developers with the state of the software at the time of the dump file creation following the crash. The example below is based on retrieving the dump file for AutoVISION. Run AutoVISION and reproduce the error. When the error has occurred, click CTRL-ALT-DEL and Start Task Manager.Click on the Processes tab, right click AutoVISION.exe and select Create Dump File as shown in the picture below. It may take a minute to save the dump file. Once the dump file has been created it will show you the location where that file is stored on your hard drive. Using Windows Expl…

First, connect the vision camera directly to your PC.Next, open an FTP client such as FileZilla (which was used for this example) and establish a connection to the camera. In the case of FileZilla, below are the settings to use:Host = IP address of the camera. Username = target Password = password Once the correct connection settings are entered, click “Quickconnect”.Below is a screenshot similar to what you will see after connecting. In the “Remote site” field, type /tffs0 Next, navigate to /tffs0/http/user/hmi as shown in the screenshot below.Next, copy layout.json to a new save location (such as your Desktop) for use later. AutoVISION and FrontRunner can only load images of the type TIF. If you have other type of image files and would like to test them in the software, you have to convert them to TIF format first. Although you can easily convert a couple with a free software called IrfanView, it can easily become a cumbersome task especially if you have a lot of images (like 100 or 1000). With the help of a free software called ImageMagick, we can convert many images from any types to TIF with a single line. 1. Go to https://www.imagemagick.org to install the latest version. Once completes, you'll automatically have access to the powerful commands of ImageMagick library from the Windows com…

GigE cameras need GigE NICs (network interface controllers). NICs can come built-in to a PC on the motherboard or as PCI or PCIe cards and there are also some USB to Ethernet adaptors available. Microscan recommends the use of NICs that make use of the Intel Pro/1000 chipsets. That doesn’t mean that no others work, it’s just that we have found that the Intel-based products DO work. Normally, when you put a NIC into a PC it will be recognized as a network adaptor and inherit all the usual network protocols. These usually include the following: Client for Microsoft Networks File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks QoS Packet Scheduler Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) …
