Hello all, I hope the forum can point me in a logical direction to better understand amplifier faults. I apologize in advance for my ignorance regarding motion control. I appreciate all inputs. What variables should I track to best understand amplier errors? I support Friction Stir Weld (FSW) machines that use GeoBrick GBL6-CO-5F2-10S (with Turbo PMAC) to control five (5) motors. These motors control gantry systems that support, convey, and weld parts. I support three machines that are approximately 3, 2, and 1 years old. I'll name them FSW1, FSW2, and FSW3, repsectively. They use the same motion hardware and (custom) software. FSW3 is frequently fau…

I have an existing application where UMAC communicates with host computer over Ethernet over 100 meters distance through a couple of Ethernet switches. The host application uses PCommServer drivers. After several months of observation, it is observed that there are data breaks in the Ethernet link on rare occasions. In host software, I am checking for interruption by sensing an unlikely set of field input values. In case of interruption, I am closing the communication by the call PmacDoc.Close(0) and then trying to re-open the communication by the call PmacDoc.Open(0, pbSuccess). When the opening call is a success, the host application resumes its work. Sometimes it so…

NCpro 5.2 running on Win7. Everything seems to work but the program rewind button. Is this button handled through a PLC or is it handled from within the front end Nc program? If it is handled through a plc, which one, were? Can program rewind be activated from a plc if I want to have some event cause a rewind? Mark

I want to gather data in the DPR of my Turbo PMAC 2 Ultralite, but I want the gathering to be synchronized with a digital output from the PMAC. The digital output is an ACC-65E connected to a UMAC which is connected to the PMAC. Preferably I would like the digital output to trigger every time the PMAC puts data into the DPR. Is there a value in the PMAC that indicates that in this servocycle data is sampled into the DPR? Alternatively I could write a plc that will "gather" one sample everytime I set the trigger high. This requires that the "gather" command is not buffered, or at least that it actually is executed at the point in time when it is instructing the PMAC…

I want to interface SSI multiturn encoder to ACC-53E/ACC-84S. Multiturn resolution will be 12 bits and single turn resolution will be 17 bits. The encoder output will be in extended SSI format as specified in attachment. Is this possible ? As per my knowledge, currently encoder conversion table does not have a format to allow this.Technical_Manual_SSI_BiSS_ACURO_en.pdf

I know this is a long shot, but can an ACC-12B be used with the Turbo on the JDISP port? The ACC-12B is an 8 digit display that was used with the SMCC to display axis position. I'm replacing an old SMCC with at UMAC Turbo and the machine has an ACC-12B and the customer likes it because the characters are large and easy to read from a distance. I read in the SMCC manual that its display port also supported the ACC-12A which the Turbo supports also. Given this, I want to know if the ACC-12B can be used with the Turbo and if so what would be the software settings.

Hi all, We want to use a 40 picometer resolution analog sensor with Turbo 2 PMAC system. Kindly suggest the interpolator card for integrating the sensor. Also let me know will turbo 2 PMAC will be better or do we need to move other type of controller to accommodate such high resolution sensor.

I'm having trouble getting an ACC-12C to work with the JDISP port from an ACC-5E in a TURBO UMAC. The unit displays, but blinks. I've seen this before on setups I've done with TURBO1 PCI boards, but the problem would go away once I did writes to memory as instructed by Delta Tau as follows: WY:$10D0,$16 ; tells PMAC this is a ACC-12C WY:$10CD,$E,$13 I also had to slow down the CPU speed by setting I52 from 7 to 2. These steps don't seem to work with the UMAC. The ACC-12C manual only gives instructions for memory writes for the non-Turbo PMACS. The memory writes above were given to me years ago by someone from the help desk for the TURBO. Are there a diffe…

I'm using a Geo Brick LV 8-axis controller (GBD8-C0-442-10T00000) to drive 5 DC Brush Motors (rating on motor is 30W 24V 2.1A 2000rpm). Since the controller is capable of far more power output than these 5 motors will draw (capabilities listed are 50A peak, 25A continuous, 60VDC Nominal, 80VDC Max), I would like to design a power supply that would allow me to do higher power functions in the future if needed. My questions: 1. Are there any suggestions as to a preferred power supply? 2. I assume the controller is capable of modifying a higher volt supply (say 45V 60V) before sending it to the lower volt motor (here 24V). Is this correct? 3. This project has…

Dear all, There may be some mistakes in the user manual of ACC-11E (newest version, December 17, 2012), page 44 and page 45, the code and the addresses illustrate how to using the mirroring word can lighting output1...output8, but output9..output24 cannot be controlled (I have not test the inputs). I try to correct the addresses and some lines of the code, but failed. So when using the mirroring word, can you give me a correct code and addresses of the inputs and outputs?

Dear all, I want to read the following error in my program, is there any way to use a m-variable read the following error? I search the m-variable listed in the turbo srm manual, and try to make the suggest m-variable pointing the address suggested, but it does not work.Someone tell me let a m-variable point the address D:$00191(#1 motor for example), it also does not work. P.S. I find two method in the manual:copyreg and #{motor number}F,It seems copyreg used in a servo (namely, open servo...close), and #{motor number}F (namely #1F) used in the terminal window. But how can I use them in a program, and where is the address of the following error? By the way, my control…

Dear All, I'm using piezo-actuator along with servo motors. I want to use the piezo's strain-gauge voltage output as my feedback. I have a ACC36-E card which is used with the UMAC rack. I had configured the card to automatic read mode by using the manual. Now I face the following issues: 1) The suggested M variable M5061=4023 counts. But the voltage output range is only 0-10V. So I'm not sure of the count value since it points to 20V. The following are the A/D convert code is: I5060=1 I5061=$78C00 I5062=$78C00 I5063=$78C00 I5064=$78C00 I5065=$78C00 I5066=$78C00 I5067=$78C00 I5068=$78C00 I5069=$78800 I5070=$78800 I5071=$78800 I5072=$78800 I5073=$7880…

I am running a NC program. checking I5192 (CMR disable veriable) and M336 (CMR Bit) for every tool change. The bits stay I5192 = 0 and M336 = 1. Tool 4 does a complete circle, it is programed as 4 arcs all with the same center. Tools 5 & 6 are programed as 2 seperate arcs, with different center points. The machine stops between these arc moves when it should not. I checked I5183 it is set to 0 so there is no reason for it to stop blending. at T4 N169 G2 X4.2 Y-2.1275 I-.7025 J0 N170 X3.4975 Y-1.425 I0 J.7025 Hesitation Very faint can not see but can feel in the part N171 X4.2 Y-0.7225 I.7025 J0 N172 X4.9025 Y-1.425 I0 J-.7025 At T5 N219 G2 X5.…

We are attempting to restart a machine that has not been used for half a decade. Initially the machine restarted successfully, but we had problems with homing of a couple of linear axis. I tried using the installed PEWin32 (v 1.9xx - very old) but had problems with it not being ale to restore PLCs and Programs from a backup .cfg file. So I installed the latest Pro2 suite and was able to get past my restore problem, however since then the control application is not ale to communicate with the Turbo PMAC anymore (TCP/IP communication returns error 10001 which is documented in their manuals as communication failure). The control application is from a machine vendor that i…

Dear All, I'm facing situation in which I'm unable to achieve a particular machining surface output. We are using PMAC Turbo2 for our diamond turning machine. The contour toolpath is fine and the achieved surface is acceptable. But in the case of Flat facing, there are surface irregularities which causes rainbow pattern in the surface. From the surface measurement, it is found that there are deep machining marks on the surface. Apparently it is evident that it could be caused due to the following error of the axes. The error value is close to 20 cts, which is around 100nm for RAMP test. Can anyone suggest how to overcome this issue? Can a user-servo be implemented to era…

We have several stepper motors in a system that exhibit some strange behavior. Sometimes when a move is commanded, the motor moves in the opposite direction until the Fatal Following Error is hit. When the move is commanded again, the motor moves in the correct direction and stops where commanded. We have also seen the motor move and go open loop with a Fatal Following error when it wasn't commanded to move. This problem happens after several hours or days of continuous operation. What could be the cause(s) of the problems? Some background: The stepper motors were configured before my time and are close loop controlled with attached encoders. We are using a Geo Brick …

hello, my acc-11e seems get something wrong, the problem described as follows: (i point m3301...m3324 to the address of output1...output24.) after wiring acc-11e's tb3 bottom (wire pin1 and 3 to gnd, pin2 to 24v), i power on pmac and macro, and download the configuration file, i find the leds which display the status of output9-output16 always lighted, namely, for example, no matter m3309=1 or m3309=0, the output9 always lighted.it seems the outputs (output9-16) uncontrolled.but the other leds (output1-8, 17-24) can lighted normally. i use a multimeter to measure the voltage of the outputs, and find the voltage of the outputs (output9-16) which cannot be uncontrolled i…
